Principal's Corner

Welcome to Iwakuni Middle School, “Home of the Blue Ninjas!”

We opened our doors in the fall of 2017 and have been growing with the addition of families and units from around the Pacific and stateside. We look forward to helping our new arrivals transition to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, located in the middle of Japan surrounded by Japan’s inland seas, beautiful islands, wonderful people and home of the famous Kintai Bridge.

Iwakuni Middle School consists of grades six, seven and eight, built around the team concept where four or five teachers in the four core subject areas share all of the students in that grade level. We offer a wide range of elective classes and look forward to adding more as we grow. We have an excellent, caring staff who understands the academic, social, and emotional state of young teenagers to help your child through these formative years. We have a knowledgeable counselor and support staff, who work with the teachers, classes, small groups and students individually to bring about a welcoming, caring environment.

Middle school is a very dynamic environment when you have over 250 young teens discovering who they are in conjunction with social and physical changes happening all at once in their young lives. We understand these dynamics and will meet the challenge of helping these young teens transition through these times of transition in their lives. We look forward to working with you to help your child transition from elementary school to high school. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the school to meet with a teacher or myself to help you answer/solve your questions or concerns.
